At Chalet Cannelle, alpine activities continue into the summer season for year-round adventures. In the warmer months, we transition from a ski chalet to a luxury bed and breakfast. Explore the local region, including the variety of activities below.
OUTDOOR ALPINE ADVENTURESALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO IN CHÂTEL
LOCAL POOLS & STUNNING LAKES
Enjoy a day at the Forme D’O, a state-of-the-art aquatic centre in Châtel. Amenities include an indoor lap pool, children’s play pool, outdoor heated pool, wellness centre, spa and gym. If you want spectacular views, our favourite outdoor pools are in Morgins and Champery, open throughout the summer. You can also enjoy lake swimming in Lac Montriond and Lac Geneva (Lac Leman).
LOCAL RIVER & LAKE FISHING
Châtel is home to both river and lake fishing, available near Chalet Cannelle. Just 300m from the chalet is the River Dranse with ideal fishing spots in Châtel and the Abondance Valley. For spectacular lake fishing, visit Lac de Vonnes and Lac de la Mouille in Châtel, Lac de Plagne in Abondance, or Lac D’Avorin in La Chapelle. Tuition is available locally.
SCENIC ALP VIEWS
See the alps from a whole different perspective! Paragliding flights depart from the top of Morclan at 1900m. Take in the incredible views as you fly over Châtel, including the Dents du Midi, the Mont de Grange and the Cornettes de Bise. Some instructors even offer stunt flights for more adventurous flyers.
SECURE CLIMBING ROUTES
Via Ferrata routes are available in La Chapelle d’Abondance, just a 10-minute drive from Chalet Cannelle. Routes with a series of wires and ropes enable visitors to climb up steep sections of rocks or cliffs more securely. A variety of ages can enjoy via ferrata routes, but you need a head for heights!
Thrill seekers will love the unique ziplining adventure at Fantasticable. Fly across the valley at speeds up to 100km/hour, soaring 240m above the earth. If you have ever wondered what flying feels like, this is the activity for you!
ADRENALINE-FILLED WATER ACTIVITIES
Adventure-seekers can enjoy canyoning, white water rafting, and hydrospeed activities on the river. The River Dranse is located between Abondance and Thonon, with the beautiful gorge providing the perfect backdrop for rushing rapids.
REAL & ARTIFICIAL CLIMBING
Rock climbers have plenty of options in Châtel. Mount Chauffé, the Cornettes du Bise, Mont du Grange, and Dents du Midi all provide fully bolted routes and guides. You can also find an artificial climbing wall in La Chapelle d’Abondance.
